THE AXELROD KIDS began as poets at an early age:
Drawing of Daniel Axelrod at age three by Jessica Axelrod
Here's Daniel E. Axelrod at age 3. STARTING THE FIRE The fire is cracking crumbs chipping off the newspapers like crusts, going up the stove, the pipe the chimney and then the papers all burned up to just pieces like worms left at the bottom.
Here's Aileen Chin Axelrod at age 7 ½.
THE BLUE JAY POEM The blue jay flies above the ground, sorcering through the sky. Watch him go to his nest. Have you ever seen a blue so blue? Birds are lucky because they can fly. All other animals have to buy their wings or cry. |
