Typing dialog usually is intended to highlight each character's lines to make a reading easier.

Example:

JOHN

I love you.

MARSHA

I know you love me.

JOHN

How do you know I love you?

MARSHA

You are standing on my heart.

Alternately:

JOHN: I love you.

MARSHA: I know you love me.

JOHN: How do you know I love you?

MARSHA: You are standing on my heart.

Typing with this format, a page of dialog tends to take a minute to read aloud. However, to be sure you have written five minutes, read your script aloud and time it!

ALSO NOTE that there are no stage directions or cues. Just write dialog!
