can Poetry in Yugoslavia and

then Macedonia . His third Fulbright was as the first official Poet-in-Residence

in China . In addition he was the sole representative of the United Sates at the

prestigious annual Struga Poetry Evenings. He has won State University of

New York Foundation, Academy of American Poets, C. W. Post, Suffolk

County and numerous other grants and awards. For over fifteen years he has

conducted workshops in Key West, from poetry to travel writing and the healing

power of writing. He performs frequently, having appeared at the United Nations

and before the American Library Association. His poems have been translated

into and published in fifteen languages. He has published sixteen books of poetry,

most recently Random Beauty.
