A term project is required for any student to be eligible for the grade of "A."

For grades up to a "B+" a term project is optional though completion of one makes a better case for a higher grade.

1. A term project consists of not less than 20 pages of one particular form of writing.

That is, you must prepare a manuscript of either:

    A. all poetry.

    B. all prose fiction (story writing or prose fiction pieces).

    C. a script of not less than 20 pages (or one act play not less than 20 pp.).

2. The term project must be completed on the date scheduled:

3. The term project must be a fully-revised collection.

The work should reflect comments from instructor and email workshop exchanges.

4. A finished manuscript must be in proper finished form.

For regular, full-semester projects, formats and guidance for each option are at the links below. Review the guidelines carefully and follow them meticulously.

FYou must do a project to be eligible for an "A".

NOTE: A project may include work done initially for class as homework. Such materials should be revised and improved upon. Homework, however is not required to be included in your project.

START YOUR PROJECT EARLY. BUILD TO AN EXCELLENT PRESENTATION!

SPECIAL INVITATION: Why not actually publish your work? For advice on small press and self publishing see:

SPECIAL NOTE FOR SUMMER-SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY: Because our term lasts only eight weeks, there won't be time to produce a "fully formatted" project. For summer students only, simply include all the elements required in a Microsoft Word document that you can attach to your email submission.
