Your instructor wants you to not just finish but do well!
From past experience it has been seen that students who put off their assignments, who don't keep to deadlines, more often do not finish their course successfully.
Therefore, you are required to do the work on deadline.
OUR FORMAL TERM RUNS FROM SEPTEMBER 2 TO DECEMBER 18. However, I actually hope that we get started as early as AUGUST 26 and plan to turn in grades on or about December 16. It is, therefore, important that everyone is properly checked in by the first day of the term and that everyone has sent the grade sheet at the posted deadline!
(Note: All the deadlines are on Wednesdays.)
2 poems sent to me and the entire email list for comments on the poems by your fellow students, due by Sept. 16. One set of poetry workshop comments on two poems for a fellow student by Sept. 23. Your second set of poetry workshop comments on two poems to a fellow student by Sept. 30. (4 poems will be critiqued in all for your workshops.)
REMEMBER TO PLEASE LABEL COMMENTS YOU SEND FOR OTHER STUDENT WORK RE: WORKSHOP COMMENTS.
10 poems in all, according to list of poetry requirements, plus two comments on fellow students' work sent to me by Oct. 7.
5 pages of script sent to me and the entire email list by Oct 21. First dialog workshop comment to a fellow student by Oct. 28. Second dialog workshop comment to a second fellow student by Nov. 4.
Any further revisions of dialog must be sent by Nov. 11. Revisions of the dialog are not required unless I tell you that you must do them.
Any extra workshop comments or revisions you send for the class count as extra credit for each section.
NOTE: Mid-semester is Oct. 27. With this an your other classes, this is the last date you can withdraw from a class without penalty. Thereafter, it is up to your instructor to agree to give you a "W" and it is not automatic. Some instructors will issue an "F" to students who do not formally withdraw! Be careful!
Nov. 11: IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO TRY FOR AN "A" YOU NEED TO TELL ME BY THIS DATE WHAT "PROJECT" YOU WILL BE DOING. See the project link to be clear what is involved. YOU MUST HAVE PRIOR APPROVAL FOR A PROJECT. CONTACT ME BY THIS DATE. WORK DOESN'T COUNT AS A PROJECT UNLESS YOU CONTACT ME AHEAD OF TIME!
By Nov. 18, you should be exchanging prose fiction exercises &/or pieces of story at the length of about 2 to 3 pages, as well as sending your materials to me.
