Spirit of the Stairway

Lauren LoNigro’s  first book of poems takes the reader through the tumult of a broken relationship and illustrates, through metaphor, music, and good humor, how we are changed by our failed connections with others. Her love of sound and image infuses her bleak subject matter with optimism, and makes this collection a pleasure to read. Sarah Kain Gutowski

For a young poet, Lauren has already mastered aphorisms and has plenty of wisdom to fill the form. She says “here is where confusion and consequence collide.” After reading these poems, there is far less confusion and a great deal of creative consequence.  David B. Axd
